Alert types
SeatDrop sends different notifications depending on what triggered the alert. Here's a quick reference for what each one means.
Seat alerts
These fire when a seat you're monitoring changes from taken to available.
| Emoji | Type | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 💺 | Seat drop | One or more specific seats you're watching just became available. Tap to book before someone else grabs them. |
| 👥 | Group drop | A block of adjacent seats opened up together. The number tells you how many are available side by side. |
Example notifications:
- 💺 Project Hail Mary @ AMC Lincoln Square 13 on 4/16 at 9:30 AM — Seat(s): G10, G11 just dropped! Tap to book.
- 👥 Project Hail Mary @ AMC Lincoln Square 13 on 4/16 at 9:30 AM — 3 seats: K15, K16, K17 just dropped! Tap to book.
Ticket drop alerts
These fire for movies you're watching in the Upcoming section. They track when tickets go on sale.
| Emoji | Type | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 🎟️ | Tickets on sale | Tickets are available to purchase right now. This is the action alert — go buy your tickets. |
| — | Showtimes listed | AMC has loaded showtimes at your theatre but tickets aren't on sale yet. Informational — no action needed. |
| — | On-sale date changed | AMC shifted the ticket on-sale date. Informational — we'll still notify you when they actually go on sale. |
Example notifications:
- 🎟️ Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu — Tickets on sale NOW at AMC Lincoln Square 13 — 2:00 PM IMAX, 4:00 PM Dolby.
- Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu at AMC Lincoln Square 13 — Showtimes listed: 2:00 PM IMAX, 4:00 PM Dolby (+4 more). Tickets on sale Apr 16 at 09:00 AM ET.
New showtime alerts
These fire automatically when AMC adds new showtimes for a movie you're already monitoring at the same theatre and date.
| Emoji | Type | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 🎬 | New showtime | A new showing was added for a movie you're watching. You might want to set up a seat alert for the new time too. |
Example notification:
- 🎬 New showtime: Speed Racer — AMC Kips Bay 15 — 3:45 PM IMAX, 10:15 PM IMAX.
SMS alerts
SMS alerts use the same messaging as seat alerts but in a text-friendly format without emoji. They include a direct link to the showtime on the theatre's website.
